Quartz surfaces offer the realistic, high-polished look of granite, with a wide range of consistent color options. Crushed quartz, one of nature’s hardest minerals, is combined with polymer resins and then compacted in dense, non-porous, consistent colored slabs. They are offered in an array of colors from neutral tones to bold, luminous hues. Quartz surfaces are resistant to cracking and chipping and heat and scorch resistant under normal cooking conditions, however, the resins combined with the quartz make the surfaces slightly less durable than granite. Although no sealing is required, it is recommended to wipe any spills immediately. Quartz makes an amazing material for kitchens countertops, bathrooms and more.

Most Quartz surfaces are available in the same thicknesses as granite and can be fabricated with all the edge profiles. Quartz surfaces are man-made slabs, therefore usually slightly more expensive than granite and other natural stones. Colors and availability can also affect pricing. The recrystallization of the carbonate minerals result in Marble.

Often, the original structure of the carbonate rocks are modified during the metamorphism to render the marble unrecognizable from its original state. The swirling and veins in marble often result from mineral impurities which are in layers in the original limestone or dolomite.

With its timeless look, this natural stone will bring an element of class to any space in the home. Most marble is white with grey veins, but there are other, more exotic, colorations to this beautiful natural stone. In addition to its lavish appearance, it can also increase the value of a home.

Quartz Countertops in Norcross and Atlanta

Are Quartz countertops the right fit for your kitchen?

Unlike natural stone or wood, quartz counters never need to be sealed. It’s as easy as wiping with soapy water for daily upkeep. Surface stains can be removed with a gentle cleansing scrub. Do avoid scouring pads, which can dull the surface significantly, and stay away from harsh chemicals that could break down the bonds between the quartz and resins.

Resin binders make quartz counters nonporous, so stain- and odor-causing bacteria, mold, and mildew can’t penetrate the surface..

Some suppliers offer large slabs for uninterrupted runs of extended countertop. But even with standard slabs, typically 60 by 120 inches, the seams can be almost imperceptible; added resins allow cleaner cuts without chipping as stone does. The resins also make quartz more flexible than natural stone, allowing fabricators to bend and shape it into sinks or the sides of a curved island. Quartz slabs are versatile enough to be used on floors and even walls. Fabricators can even cut the slabs into standard tile sizes.
